Thai Leisure Group - £10m funding from Santander supports expansion of restaurant chain
Santander’s new funding of £10m - which was secured in 2015 - is planned to be used for further growth in their restaurant estate, to increase their portfolio from 15 to 24, with a wider plan to create greater coverage of the Thai Leisure Group’s brand across the UK.
Thai Leisure Group is based in Leeds and has 15 Thai-themed restaurants located across the UK. The company was founded in 2004 by Martin Stead and Kim Kwaikraihott, and now trades across three highly successful brands/formats:
Chaophraya (an up-market dining concept), ChaoBaby (a Thai-themed mid-market buffet concept); and their new ThaiKhun brand; which is based on a Bangkok street food concept.
Santander first provided Thai Leisure Group with Growth Capital funding in 2012 and, with its support and funding, they have doubled revenues to £27 million and created over 400 new jobs. They’ve also increased their restaurant estate from 6 to 15 and expanded into Scotland - with openings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
