Checking your company details
Once you’ve logged in and checked your accounts are visible, we suggest you check your company details.
It’s important to keep your company details up to date because this is how we contact you about changes to your products and services.
- To view your company details: Go to the ‘Administration’ tab.
- To edit your company details: Select ‘Go to customer details’.
From the Administration page you can also create and amend your payment limits and payment preferences.
Payment preferences
You can choose from a range of payment preferences and limits to tailor your Online Banking to your company’s needs. These also protect you against fraudulent online transactions. Your administrator can set up and alter these preferences from the ‘Administration’ menu.
You can adjust the overall maximum value payment limit, which applies to all users irrespective of their own authorisation limit. For your security, this is defaulted to £10,000 within Santander Connect.
You can also place a limit on each user to control the maximum value of a payment they can authorise. This offers another barrier to a fraudster if they manage to get hold of any of your security details. We suggest every user has an authorisation limit to protect your money.
With dual authorisation, two separate people are needed to authorise payments online. Typically, the first person creates and authorises the payment request, and a second user checks and authorises it before we send the payment.
An IAT payment is when you transfer funds internally between your own accounts. These types of payments are treated differently as they carry less of a security risk. By default, authorisation and signature authentication is only needed for an IAT payment if the value is over the IAT authorisation trigger value.
This is how far in advance users can schedule payments from the effective date of the payment.
Creating additional users and user roles
To run your business smoothly, you may need to create additional users. There’s no limit to the amount of additional users you can create, but user fees may apply.
Administrators have the responsibility for creating and managing your users. This is easy and only takes a few minutes. To create additional users, simply:
- Go to the ‘Administration’ tab;
- Select ‘Manage Users’; and
- Click on ‘Create User’ and input their personal details.
For more information on creating users please visit the FAQ section of the Connect Help Cente
These define what actions your users can perform online. It’s important to check that your user has the correct roles assigned so they can do the tasks you need them to online.
- Master roles: Both Santander Connect and Santander Connect Plus offer a range of pre-defined user roles based on the needs of the different people in a typical company. For example, the payment super user can access all payments related activities online.
- Custom roles: Santander Connect Plus allows you to create specific and tailored user roles to fulfil the needs of your business.
For more information on how master and custom roles work, please visit the FAQ section of the Connect Help Cente.
Creating your beneficiaries
You can find your saved beneficiaries in the ‘Manage beneficiary’ screens within the ‘Payments’ tab.Although you can make payments without saving any beneficiary details, we recommend you save the details of any beneficiaries you pay on a regular basis. This will not only save you time when making payments, but also protect you against fraudulent payments.
If you’ve switched to us using the account switcher service, your beneficiaries will have been transferred into Santander Connect
Setting your preferences
Below are a few of the tools available to personalise the experience for each user. These allow you to save time when navigating, searching for accounts or making payments.
You can find these in the ‘Preferences’ tab change your preferences at any time.
Select up to 10 of your most used accounts as favourites to save yourself time when navigating around the site.
Your favourite accounts will automatically appear for you to select when using the magnifying glass (account search facility) in any of the payment of account search screens.
To save time when making payments, you can select up to 50 favourite beneficiary accounts.
A list of your favourite beneficiaries will automatically in a drop down menu when you fill out the beneficiary account field on the payments screens. You can also search favourite beneficiaries when you make domestic and international payments and payments from templates.
You can export a list of all your beneficiaries in CSV or PDF formats from the ‘Manage beneficiaries’ screen, which you can find under the ‘Payments’ tab.
Another way to save time when making payments is by selecting up to 4 preferred payment accounts for different currencies.
You can choose your preferred payment accounts for GBP, USD, EUR and one other currency. Then, when you go to make a payment in one of these currencies, your preferred payment account will automatically appear.
