Birmingham hotel secures funds ahead of latest expansion plans

Santander funding to assist The Westmead hotel's upcoming renovation project with the aim of improving business growth.

The Westmead is a 57 bedroom independent family run hotel serving a broad customer base, with a range of facilities including a restaurant, bar, conference and event facilities. The ideal location on the Birmingham Road, just 20 minutes from Birmingham city centre, offers the best of both the city attractions and the countryside.

The hotel was purchased by the Panesar family in 2009, and in 2014, Santander assisted with the purchase of the freehold title of the hotel and also with buying out their two sleeping partners.

Over the last three years, the Westmead has proven to be a stable, but strong performing business in what can be a challenging sector. Both turnover and occupancy rates have increased year on year.

Wanting to build upon this success, the Panesar family now have plans to carry out renovation works on the hotel’s events room to be re-launched as a wedding venue, banquet and function room, as well as an overhaul of the bar and restaurant.

Santander’s provision of funds to assist with the cost of this renovation project aims to improve business growth through the launch of a wedding package, which in turn should drive recruitment.

The Westmead received the 2017 top guest rated hotel in Birmingham award by LateRooms.
