Rosehill Lodges invests for growth following £1.15 million in funding from Santander
Porthowan-based Rosehill Lodges, a five star, eco-friendly holiday complex on the North Coast of Cornwall, is to upgrade its facilities and invest for growth, following a £1.15 million funding package from Santander Business Banking.
Established in 1997 by husband-and-wife team John and Pauline Barrow, Rosehill Lodges was originally a campsite until 2006 when The Barrows substantially redeveloped the site into 10 luxury lodges with grass roofs. The site differentiates itself with its strong environmentally friendly focus which has helped drive business growth: Rosehill Lodges enjoys 24% repeat bookings, above sector norms, and receives visitors from France, Germany and the Netherlands, among other countries, each summer.
The £1.15 million from Santander Business Banking will allow the owners to make additional improvements to Rosehill Lodges in order to keep the 5* standard. Part of this will include recruiting a Marketing Manager and investing in a new website in the autumn which will be fully optimised for desktop, mobile and tablet. Rosehill Lodges has been awarded Gold under the Green Tourism Business Scheme and has won the Gold Award for sustainability at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Cornwall will always be a prime destination for tourists, not just from the UK but from Western Europe, and we are lucky enough to be located in the lovely seaside town of Porthtowan just a short five minutes’ walk to a superb, sandy, Blue Flag beach. Since redeveloping the site from a campsite we have seen an uplift in numbers each year as environmentally conscious visitors look for somewhere relaxing to enjoy their holiday. The funding from Santander will allow us to continue to strive for this excellence as we make additional investments in the business.
